1. (intransitive) to spit, to expectorate (to push, throw saliva or sputum out of one's mouth)

   uz ietves aizliegts spļaut‎ ― it is prohibited to spit on the sidewalk

   spļaut uz visām pusēm‎ ― to spit on all sides
