1. a large amount (followed by the genitive; usually translated into English by much or many)

   Níl mórán céille aige.‎

   He doesn’t have much sense.

   Ní chonaic mé le mórán blianta é‎

   I haven’t seen him for many years.

   Níl mórán nach dtuigeann sé.‎

   There isn’t much he doesn’t understand.

Usage notes

Used only in negative statements and in questions. In positive statements, neart or a lán is used instead.
