  • لٰكِنَّ (lākinna) functions like إِنَّ (ʾinna) and أَنَّ (ʾanna), shifting the subject of the subordinate clause to the accusative case. The subject of the subordinate clause must immediately follow لٰكِنَّ (lākinna); if it is a pronoun, it must be expressed.
