առատիկ

առատիկ

Old Armenian

Noun

առատիկ (aṙatik)

  1. a cord for binding up a criminal’s feet

Declension

Usage notes

The word is attested only in oblique cases առատկաց (aṙatkacʿ) and առատկաւք (aṙatkawkʿ), so the nominative can be reconstructed as *առատիկ (*aṙatik) or *առատուկ (*aṙatuk). The modern literary Armenian has chosen the latter but the etymology points to the former.
