1. (usually singular) sweetness (the quality of that which is sweet)

   medus, cukura saldums‎ ― the sweetness of honey, of sugar

2. (chiefly in the plural) sweets, candy (pastries or confections with high sugar content)

   viņas lūpām ir vilinošs saldums‎ ― in her lips there is a tempting sweetness

   atriebības saldums izvējoja kā dūmi‎ ― the sweetness of revenge spread in the air like smoke

5. (usually singular) sweetness, sentimentality,
