Etymology

From há- ‎(“of an oarlock”) +‎ seti ‎(“one who sits”), from hár ‎(“róðrarþollur, keipur; an oarlock”) and seti from the verb sitja ‎(“to sit”), literally "one who sits at the oarlock"—"one who rows".[1]
