From há- ‎(“of or pertaining to the heel or articulations of the foot”) +‎ band ‎(“a string, a yard”),[1] Confer the Faroese hábinda and Nynorsk håbinda and habbenda.[1] Confer há- and hæll ‎(“a heel”).[1]
