Galego

  1. Language spoken in the region of Galicia in the Northwestern corner of the Spanish peninsula and which is related to Portuguese. It is believed to be the parent language of Portuguese and shares many similarities with it. It uses, however, Spanish orthography (spelling) in most of its varieties, although there is pressure to reform the spelling to conform more with Portuguese style.
