1. 未だ: yet, still
   • 1905, Natsume Sōseki, 吾輩は猫である:

     吾輩 (わがはい)は猫 (ねこ)である。名前 (なまえ)はまだ無 (な)い。

     Wagahai wa neko de aru. Namae wa mada nai.

     I am a cat. As of yet, I have no name.

   私 (わたし)はまだ生 (い)きている。

   Watashi wa mada ikiteiru.

   I am still alive.

Usage notes

• The kanji 未だ ‎(mada) is rarely used and the hiragana form まだ ‎(mada) is preferred.
