Etymology

No cognates are found in other Kartvelian languages, however Proto-Georgian-Zan *bac̣- is reconstructable via internal reconstruction. Starostin further compares it with Proto-Indo-European *bhasko- (heap, bundle, fascicle) as well as other comparisons in the controversial Nostratic theory.
