Usage notes

• The Academy of the Hebrew Languages states that the words has two traditions of pronunciation dating back form Mishnaic literature שִׁיפוֹן ‎(shifón) and שִׁפּוֹן ‎(shipón) and determined that nowadays the former is the standard form.^[1]
