הִצִּית • ‎(hitsít) ‎(hif'il construction, passive counterpart הוצת \ הֻצַּת)

1. light, kindle, start (a fire)
   • Jeremiah 11:16, with translation of the King James Version:

     זַיִת רַעֲנָן יְפֵה פְרִי־תֹאַר קָרָא ה׳ שְׁמֵךְ לְקוֹל ׀ הֲמוּלָּה גְדֹלָה הִצִּית אֵשׁ עָלֶיהָ וְרָעוּ דָּלִיּוֹתָיו׃‎

     zayit ra'anan y'fe pri-toar kara H' sh'mekh l'kol hamula g'dola hitzit esh aleiha v'ra'u daliyotav:

     The LORD called thy name, A green olive tree, fair, and of goodly fruit: with the noise of a great tumult he hath kindled fire upon it, and the branches of it are broken.
