1. (with a definite adjective) Most.

   אוורסט הוא ההר הגבוה ביותר בעולם.‎ ― éverest hu hehár hagavóah b'yotér ba`olám. ― Mount Everest is the tallest (=most tall) mountain on Earth.

2. (with an indefinite adjective) Quite, most.

   אוורסט הוא הר גבוה ביותר.‎ ― éverest hu hár gavóah b'yotér. ― Mount Everest is quite a tall mountain.

Usage notes

• (most): This adverb is comparatively formal, the synonymous adverb הכי ‎(hakhí) being comparatively informal.
• (most): This adverb is often left implied:

  אוורסט הוא ההר הגבוה בעולם.‎ ― éverest hu hehár hagavóah ba`olám. ― Mount Everest is the tall mountain on Earth.

• (quite): This adverb is comparatively formal, various synonymous adverbs (such as מאד ‎(m'ód) and נורא ‎(norá)) being more common in informal contexts.
