Etymology

From քեռ (kʿeṙ, sister’s), genitive of քոյր (kʿoyr, sister), because the “uncle” is the person, whose sister is the speaker’s mother. Analogous derivations are Sanskrit स्वस्रीय (svasrīya, sister's son, nephew) and Latin sobrīnus (cousin).
