From դր- (dr-, door) + Proto-Armenian *and- (door-frame, vestibule), whence also անդաստակ (andastak), from Proto-Indo-European *h₂énHt-ih₂. Cognate with Sanskrit आता (ātā-, door-frame, door-posts), Avestan [script needed] (ąiϑiiā-, door-post), Latin antae (square pilasters, wall posts of a temple), Old Norse ǫnd (front room, corridor). Possibly related to անդ (and).
