Etymology

The origin is uncertain. Perhaps from Old Armenian *ընդ-ունչ (*ənd-unčʿ), from ընդ (ənd) + ունչ (unčʿ). On the other hand, compare Georgian ტუჩი (ṭuči, lip) and დრუნჩი (drunči, muzzle).
