Etymology 2

From Ottoman Turkish يوزمك (yüzmek, to skin, flay), from Old Turkic [script needed] (yüz-, to skin, flay), from Proto-Turkic *jüŕ- (to peel off (skin), to skin), which, according to the controversial Altaic hypothesis, is possibly derived from Proto-Altaic *ǯi̯uŕi (to peel, skim off).[3] Compare Mongolian зорох (zoroh, to plane, shave, chip). According to Nişanyan it must be related to Old Turkic [script needed] (yüz-, to swim, float) see Etymology 1 above.

  1. (transitive) to skin, flay
Ölü koyunun derisini yüzdü. ― He/she flayed the skin from the dead sheep.
