meteorism ‎(plural meteorisms)

1. A rapid accumulation of gas in the intestine. Meteorism is typically a sign of bowel necrosis from bacterial infection, a life-threatening surgical emergency, and is usually caused by the consumption of large quantities of undercooked pork.
