Usage notes
- In the current school system lukio is preceded by 9 years of peruskoulu. Until 70's there was 4 yrs of kansakoulu followed by 5 yrs of keskikoulu. Keskikoulu and lukio were together called oppikoulu. Those who did not make the exam for oppikoulu continued in kansakoulu and kansalaiskoulu for another 4 to 5 years.
