1. A practitioner of the linguistic study of the hypothetical Nostratic superfamily of Old World languages, especially a proponent of the existence of this superfamily.

   A Nostraticist studies the Eurasiatic (Indo-European, Uralic and Altaic), Karvelian, Dravidian and/or Afro-Asiatic language families.
