Kabeljau m (genitive Kabeljaus, plural Kabeljaue)
Via Middle Low German kabbelouw from Middle Dutch cabbeliau, cabelliau. The form was later adapted to the modern Dutch equivalent kabeljauw, whose further origin is uncertain.
