Etymology

From Slavic, compare Lower Sorbian górka and Polish ogórek, from Byzantine Greek ἀγγούριν ‎(angoúrin, “cucumber”), from ἀγγούριον ‎(angoúrion), diminutive of ἄγγουρος ‎(ángouros), from ἄγουρος ‎(ágouros).^[1][2].
