This word is used to describe a different range of hues than English blue; it can cover the green of plants, but not the blue of the sea.
From Proto-Sino-Tibetan *s-ŋow (“white; green; yellow; blue”). Related to སྔོ (sngo, “green; blue; vegetables; plant”).
