1. Third-person plural past tense (suffix conjugation) of מֵת ‎(mét).
   • Exodus 4:19, with Young's Literal Translation:

     כִּי־מֵתוּ כָּל־הָאֲנָשִׁים הַמְבַקְשִׁים אֶת־נַפְשֶׁךָ

     ki-métu kol-haanashím ham'vak'shím et-nafshécha

     for all the men have died who seek thy life
