μπάνιο • ‎(bánio) n ‎(plural μπάνια)

1. bath (act of bathing)

   Μετά το μπάνιο χαλάρωσα πολύ.‎ ― Metá to mpánio chalárosa polý. ― I relaxed a lot after the bath.

   Η κόρη μου κάνει κάθε μέρα τρία μπάνια. Υπερβολικό δεν είναι;‎ ― I kóri mou kánei káthe méra tría mpánia. Ypervolikó den eínai? ― Every day my daughter takes three baths. Isn't it excessive?

2. (by extension) bath, bathtub (tub or pool used for bathing)

   Το μπάνιο είναι γεμάτο σαπουνάδα.‎ ― To mpánio eínai gemáto sapounáda. ― The bath is full of suds.

   Είμαι πολύ ψηλός, δε θα χωρέσω στο μπάνιο σου.‎ ― Eímai polý psilós, de tha choréso sto mpánio sou. ― I'm too tall, I won't fit in your bathtub.

3. (by extension) bathroom (room for bathing and usually with a toilet)

   Μπήκε μέσα στο μπάνιο πριν μια ώρα. Τι κάνει τόση ώρα άραγε;‎ ― Bíke mésa sto mpánio prin mia óra. Ti kánei tósi óra árage? ― He went into the bathroom an hour ago. What could he possibly be doing?

   Μπορώ μήπως να χρησιμοποιήσω το μπάνιο σας;‎ ― Boró mípos na chrisimopoiíso to bánio sas? ― Could I possibly use your bathroom?

4. (figuratively) swim (instance of swimming, usually in the sea)

   Πόσα μπάνια έκανες το καλοκαίρι;‎ ― Pósa mpánia ékanes to kalokaíri? ― How many swims did you go for in the summer?

   Κάθε πρωί χαράματα πάνε οι γέροι για μπάνιο επειδή δεν κάνει πολύ ζεστή.‎ ― Káthe proí charámata páne oi géroi gia mpánio epeidí den kánei polý zestí. ― Old people go for a swim every morning at daybreak because it isn't too warm.
