setl n
From Proto-Germanic *setlą, representing Proto-Indo-European *sedlos, from *sed- (“sit”). Cognate with Old High German sezzal (German Sessel), Middle Dutch sētel (Dutch zetel), Gothic 𐍃𐌹𐍄𐌻𐍃 (sitls). The Indo-European root is also the source of Ancient Greek ἑλλά (****á), Latin sella (“seat, chair”), Russian седло́ (sedló).
